Updated: Green Day Start Recording New Album

 

  Billie Joe Armstrong revealed on twitter that Green Day has officially started recording their new album.  "Happy Valentine's day!  Officially started recording the new record today.  It's Fuck Time!!!!"

  The band played a new song 'Carpe Diem', during a show in San Francisco November 2011 that immediately made it to the internet.  They have said in recent interviews the new album will move away from the last two records and have a more aggressive sound and be more straightforward.

  The new album when it's released will be the bands ninth.  The American Idiot musical continues to tour, and a movie produced by Tom Hanks is in development.


  UPDATE: Green Day has posted a short clip of their first day in the studio on their YouTube channel. Hopefully this means a documentary is in the works for the new album.
