Lars Ulrich Says Hulk Hogan Never Auditioned For Metallica
Earlier this year Hulk Hogan said in a interview for The Sun that he was almost the bass player for Metallica. That news was crazy enough. What's even more crazy is that Lars Ulrich says it isn't true.
"You know what?! I'm blessed or cursed, depending on how you look at it, with having more or less a photographic memory for pretty much anything that I've been a part of," Said Ulrich. "That one, when that showed up two or three months ago, I was scratching my head over that one. Unless he went by..."
"I don't know Hulk Hogan, I don't know enough about him... I'm not a huge wrestling [fan]... Unless he went by, like, his Christian name or something, and I don't know if anybody knows what his Christian name was- Dave Smith or something - if there was a whole thing that we had with him under a different name, but I certainly have no recollection of doing anything with quote Hulk Hogan endquote. That one, I was scratching my head on that one, too."
Who do you think is telling the truth? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
Oh yeah.. Lars.. Hulk Hogans real name is Terry Bollea. Don't pretend like you didn't know.

Metallica's Orion Festival to Feature Custom Car and Motorcycle Show
When Metallica's Orion Festival was announced a couple months back the response was less than positive. The lineup for the festival consisted of a lot of indie bands that many fans feel didnt represent Metallica.
As the months went on and more and more bands were announced it's starting to feel like a Metallica Festival. The Damage Inc. stage was announced recently with heavier bands added like Suicidal Tendencies, and Sepultura.
Now Metallica has announced the Orion Custom Car + Motorcycle Show, curated by James Hetfield himself.
Over 300 Customs, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars and Custom Motorcycles will be on display inside the festival grounds throughout the weekend. Cars from around the world, including celebrity cars will be displayed.
Orion Music + More is June 23-24 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Lars Ulrich Admits 'Lulu' Failure. (but thinks you will enjoy it in 900 years)
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich spoke with D.C. radio station DC101 about the fans reaction to last years colaboration album 'Lulu' with Lou Reed. He acknowledged the fans negative reaction to the project, saying they needed to experiment to shake up their career.
"It was difficult for Lou Reed because he takes everything very personally. And I think he was very suprised. We told him all along: 'Listen, there are some very, very, very hardcore metal fans out there that like everything pre-packaged in a particular little box that looks like this, and the minute that you slightly veer outside of that, then they have a hernia." "The LA Weekly said how the real album of 2011 was 'Lulu', but nobody is gonna recognize it for another 20 years. In about 900 years from now, people will be able to talk about 'Lulu' face to face with each other without hiding behind masks."
Metallica is working on a 3D movie, which Ulrich talked about the process. "Getting your own 3D movie off the ground is easier said than done, but we're doing our best. We just want to make sure that we don't throw ourselves out into something that gets so completely overwhelming that the whole thing just blows up in our face."
The movie goes into production this year.
(If your reading this 900 years from now, please pick up 'Lulu and tell us what you think.)

Metallica Defend Their Orion Festival Lineup
Last month Metallica announced the lineup for their Orion Festival, taking place in an abandoned airport in Atlantic City June 23rd and 24th. But after the announcement some people weren't happy with the lineup, saying it was to indie rock for their metal audience.
Now Lars Ulrich is defending the festival, in a interview with Pulse Radio:
"This whole thing is kind of based more around the classic festivals that we've been playing in Europe for the better part of the last 25, 30 years, which is really about diversity and really about kind of many, many different musical experiences. Now whether anybody buys into that or not, we'll find out, but there's gonna be lots an lots of cool, heavy stuff, trust me."
Metallica will play the 'Black Album' and 'Ride the Lightning' in their entirety at the festival.

Hulk Hogan Was Almost in Metallica
![]() |
| Hulk Hogan |
Hogan said in a recent interview with Sun "I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler. I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn't work out.
So just think, we almost had a alternative universe of Metallica with a lot of neon colors and ripped shirts. Just Imagine what the Metallica logo could have looked like.
